Today, students reviewed the Jewish calendar placing
themselves on the calendar according to their Hebrew birthdays. Today is Rosh
Chodesh Heshvan. We discussed the lunar cycle as we learned about Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of the
Jewish month. Students drew in the appearance of the moon on each of the Jewish
holidays in September and October. They
noted that Rosh Chodesh and Rosh Hashanah are celebrated on the new
moon and that Sukkot is celebrated beginning at the full moon. And they
discovered that we should expect a full moon this year on October 28th.
