Grade 2/Kitah Bet Update 11.8.15

I had the opportunity today to hear many of the Second Graders read to me.  WOW!  Most of the students recognized all of the letters and vowels we have learned and were able to combine them  to  decipher the words in our text book.  I was very impressed when students made mistakes and were able to self correct on their own.   I am and sure that practicing at home has helped reinforce what we have learned in class.

In Torah we continued learning about the Story of Noah.  During the week we discussed how hard it must have been for God to decide the world and what the significance of the rainbow is.

In our Holiday Unit we are learning about Shabbat., for now focusing on Friday Night traditions.  Everyone was very excited to share different ways in which they observe Erev Shabbat (Friday Evening).  By far the most popular thing that came up was celebrating with family and friends.

I continue to be impressed with the level of enthusiasm for learning in the Second Grade.
