In December, I sent each family an update on their
child. Several of you wrote back. As always, if you have any questions or
comments, please email me.
I am absent from class today, so assistant teacher Cheryl
Gelfand is teaching the students. Along with our wonderful Madricha
Ariel. I miss all of you, and I will be back next week.
Today at breakfast, we discussed questions we could relate
to the parasha of the week on the plagues in Egypt. Then we enjoyed
tefillah and songs with the rest of the school.
Back in class, students learned the letter vet ב No common words begin with vet,
but the letter is found in lulav and aviv (spring). Students then could
partner to review some letters.
Next, the class reviewed the story of Noah and the
Ark. Students discussed making the right decisions on behavior and the
significance of the rainbow, as G-d’s promise to never again destroy the world.
We read The Littlest Pair. Then they went over Hebrew
words for some of the animals—like “peel” for elephant and “g’rafeh” for
giraffe. At the request of the students, we then read Why Noah Chose the Dove
while they ate their snacks.
