Dear families:
It was wonderful seeing so many
of you on such a snowy morning!. After
breakfast, we took part in the weekly tefillah, led by Robin and Cantor
Ken. We eagerly looked at the book
plates in our siddurim, because Robin was going to show us how to make our own
bookplates to be put in prayerbooks donated in the names of the students! More about this later.
HEBREW: Back in class, we
studied the letter yud, with the mnemonic, “Yellow yud yells!” Our Hebrew
letter today is י“yud.”
Some words beginning with י are “yad” (pointer or hand), yeled, yaldah, Yerushalayim,
and Yisrael.
STORY: We read The Matzah That Papa
Brought Home, a humorous tale of celebrating a Seder, repeating
and adding to the list of things the family does. The children help with the rhymes, gradually
going through the entire Seder. We are
continuing to learn Pesach melodies. Our
class practiced the four questions.
CRAFT: We made a booklet
with Hebrew, transliteration, English, and a picture representing each of the
four questions. We also practiced them so that the children can help sing them
at their Seders. I am so impressed by
how well the children sing the four questions.
Students played with Pesach games
and did puzzles. We sang more Pesach
songs.
The children took home the Seder
clocks they made last week after Lois, our secretary, laminated them. Thank you, Lois! They can be used for years.
We were excited to work with
Robin to make bookplates based on praise of G-d. Students discussed wonderful ideas—the Eternal
Light, rainbow, the burning bush, flags, flowers, and others. We look forward to seeing them in the new
siddurim.
Next week—more on Pesach, and our
Seder pillows!
Judy and Cheryl (Esther and
Tzipporah)
