Grade 1 - Welcome to Kitah Alef

Temple Israel
OF NATICK
Dear First Graders,
Welcome to first grade—the alef class!
We are looking forward to seeing you in class this year!  We hope you have fun as you learn about being Jewish, the holidays, Hebrew, the Exodus story, prayers, and music.  These are some things we will do:
WELCOME
PRAYERS

SNACK
STORY
CRAFT
BREAK
TORAH
MUSIC
Everyone will help the class by doing a weekly job like giving out pencils or papers.  We all will work together, sharing and talking about being Jewish.  We have lots to teach each other.  We will often use our Hebrew names.
During the year, as you learn the Hebrew letters and sounds, you will discover Hebrew words like three meanings for shalom, todah (thank you), and l’hitrahot (see you soon). You can ask for mayim (water) or visit the sheruteem (girls’/boys’ room).

Have a wonderful rest of the summer.  We can’t wait to see you on Sunday, September 18.
L’shalom--Judy Azer and Cheryl Gelfand
