Apple picking א Announcements
                                                                                    September 13, 2015/ 29 Elul 5775

שלום Kitah Alef students and families:
It was wonderful seeing so many of you today at Belkin Lookout Farms.  The drizzle didn’t dampen our spirits at all!  I enjoyed meeting many of you and sharing that it was my first time ever apple picking!  You all made my experience today so memorable.

Being together while picking the apples and exploring the farm was so much fun.  We are preparing for Rosh Hashanah—the Jewish New Year.  Tonight, we begin 5776.

It was symbolic that we pick apples, which are one of the symbols of the holiday—along with honey.  As I sang with some of you “Tapuach u’dvash l’Rosh Hashanah. Apples and honey for Rosh Hashanah.” The song continues: “A good new year, a sweet new year.  Tapuach u’dvash l’Rosh Hashanah.”  I hope that your holiday and the entire year are filled with sweetness.

I look forward to seeing you next Sunday, September 20, at 9 a.m., probably in our classroom downstairs.  We will sing some more, review holiday symbols such as the shofar and the round challah.  We will also read and discuss The Hardest Word.  What do you think it could be?

Esther and Tzipporah (Judy and Cheryl)
